Day 6 Review (Paris 2026 Euro Champs)

Um, and we're gonna kick things off with the men's 200 meters butterfly.

Mm.

The biggest thing I've got to take away from this race, and we'll, we'll go dissect the race, um, in a second, but this meet has been outstanding.

Actually, I've really, really enjoyed covering Europeans, and the French crowd has been phenomenal every time there's been a French swimmer in the water.

Yeah.

How great would it have been if Leon Marchand had his full schedule?

Oof.

Yeah, I know.

How loud would it have been?

'Cause this was a special, special atmosphere.

It was, and made even more special when the anthem's going.

I mean, someone said on the comms, whoever was Andy, with, with Andy Jameson, I can't remember who it was now, but, uh, the French anthem sounds like, "Marchand, Marchand, Leon."

Like, oh wow, that's awesome.

I didn't really think of that.

Okay.

And when everyone is literally singing it in the, in the arena, it's kind of goosebumps, and I'm not French, and you just think, "Wow, it's awesome." Um, but yeah, I agree.

If he did everything, 2 IM, 4 IM, breaststroke maybe, the, the schedule could've been potentially absolutely massive for him.

Um, whether he would've done all those events if he was fully fit, who knows? But, um-

But how great would the atmosphere have been? Like cons...

I, I mean, it's been good anyway.

It would've been ev- well, it would've been every night.

I mean, they cheer the French supporters on so hard.

I mean, Malou just smashed it in the hundred backstroke, which we'll get to eventually as well.

But, um, yeah, I mean, he was so far favorite in this event anyway, this 200 fly.
