Michael Geist, the Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law at the University of Ottawa.

Okay, so for those who don't know your background, you're the Canada Research Chair in Internet and e-commerce law at the University of Ottawa, which is where I went to school.
Definitely not in that topic, but I love that school.
What kind of issues do you focus on in this role? Because it's a pretty big title.
It is a pretty broad title and the kind of issues I focus on are pretty broad as well.
I sometimes tell people that I'm sort of at the intersection between law technology and policy, which is fitting being in Ottawa for sure.
And I cover pretty much the waterfront between internet regulation, e-commerce, of course, intellectual property issues like copyright.
How long have you been in this role? Because I feel like things have changed over time since you probably took on this role in the first place.
I've had a Canada Research Chair at this point almost as long as you can have one, to be honest.
I'm pretty even so fortunate because there's both the system with Tier 1s and Tier 2s.
And so I've been at the University of Ottawa for, I think it's 27 years, and I've had a Canada Research Chair for, I think it's like 23.
This is part of my excitement for having you on the podcast, because like you said, you do cover a whole lot of different topics and you have quite a bit of experience in this field.
So I think you were kind of the person to talk to this week as a number of different pieces of the government's agenda around digital and law and all these other things are coming out.
