HOME INVASION STORIES PT 2

My mother came home usually an hour or two after I did.

We lived in the city near my high school, and it's pretty common for kids that were my age to be home alone or take the bus or train by themselves.

I had just gotten in the door and grabbed some food out of the fridge.

We lived in a birthday cake house, a triple-decker apartment, so it had front doors and a staircase that led to each apartment.

On the first floor is a little closet under the stairs.

I heard the very front doors open, so I thought my mother was coming home.

After a few minutes of her not coming inside, I decided to look through the peephole to see some dude going through the closet.

Then he turned towards our door and tried the knob.

Literally the second he turned around, I looked to the lock and realized it was unlocked.

So I locked it within two seconds of him touching the doorknob.

When he realized it was locked, he made his way to the stairs, and as he was doing so, I yelled at the top of my lungs, the police are here and they are on their way and I have a gun.

He straight up sprinted out the front door and left it wide open.

It was terrifying because I was home alone, but a good old locked door and a bluff got me out of that situation really quickly.
