Leave it to Beavers and Cinebrainia

Before we start the review, I do wanna mention a couple of things.

First off, at the beginning of the episode, Kelly and I discussed plans for the fifth anniversary, but we already recorded and published our fifth anniversary special, so go check it out.

And lastly, during the Cinebrainia portion of the episode, the story asserts that Thomas Edison invented movies and filmmaking, and I stated that Thomas Edison didn't invent filmmaking as a whole.

And while that is true, as there were other innovators of motion pictures before him, such as English photographer Eadweard Muybridge, who invented the zoopraxiscope in 1879, and French physiologist Étienne-Jules Marey, who invented the technique of chronophotography, capturing 12 pictures per second on a moving object.

I neglected to mention that Edison and British assistant William Dickinson worked on a camera that would capture 12 frames per second.

So first up, in 1890, Dickinson unveiled the Kinetograph, a primitive motion picture camera, and in 1892, he announced the invention of Kinetoscope, a machine that would project moving images onto a screen.

So even though Edison wasn't the sole inventor of film as an art form, he did indeed make some contributions to film technology.
