Episode 14: Titania & Oberon with Jen Sugden (A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 2 Scene 1)

I work on a visiting students program to Oxford University.

They do a big Shakespeare course and I teach the late play's And I teach the history plays.

Amazing.

Not the comedies, but I love, I think the comedies are my favorites.

Absolutely.

I love that you had that story about As You Like It, because we've also, that's another play that we've now talked about a lot on the show, but haven't actually delved into yet.

So we're going to have to get some As You Like It on the docket as well.

And it's one that we've talked about a little bit in each of our experiences with.

But I just wanted to before we dive into the scene that we're looking at today, talk a little bit about each of our experiences with it.

Midsummer was also it was the first Shakespeare I ever saw.

And I saw it being done at the high school that I ultimately went to school at.

But I think I was like... seven or eight when I saw it.

And I was just absolutely enchanted and became totally obsessed.

And as I've talked about on the show, that was when I was sitting with my mom and every other line, I'd be like, what does that mean? What does that mean? And she'd be like, oh my God, Emma, just watch the play.

Shush.
