We've been conditioned to think bigger audiences equals bigger opportunity, but that's not necessarily true.

You potentially have mutual connections and there could be opportunities for you to collaborate beyond the podcast.

But audience size alone doesn't tell you whether a podcast is strategically right for your business.

So when I'm looking at potential podcasts, I'm looking at much more than numbers.

Who listens? What do they care about? What does the host stand for? What is their business? Who do they work with? Who do they know? Does my expertise complement theirs? Could this relationship make sense beyond one interview? And here's another question that's often overlooked.

Would I genuinely enjoy having a conversation with this person? Because if the answer is no, why are you trying so hard to get booked on their podcast? Which brings me to the second thing.
