Sara Noor is a Somali-American writer and a global health systems leader, and the sister of the US Congresswoman, Ia Omar, raised in a multi-generational Somali household in Mogadishu before her family resettled to Minneapolis when she was a teenager.
She holds a master's degree in nursing and health systems administration from the University of Minnesota.
Her debut memoir, Salt in the Snow, a Somali immigrant story, traces her family's migration and the enduring complicated influence of her father's love.
She's a contributing author to the forthcoming anthology, American Occupation Dispatches from Minnesota Resistance of ICE.
Before we start this conversation, I was telling Sara just before that this book really made me cry.
