Side Quest 1: brushing during comps

I'm a big fan of having people brush holds.

It's like brush the finish hold so that you know where the crimp is.

Like you can kind of feel the holds through the stick brush.

You're not just brushing for the texture of the holds.

You're also brushing for like a tactile feedback where you can feel like the jib is way more left than it looks.

Or there's actually a blocker that you didn't know was there and you're trying to brush and you can't actually feel it.

That might give you a little bit more information too.

or how in-cut the hold

is, like, oh, that looks slopey, that looks bad, boom, brush it, and then, oh, that's

actually, like,

pretty in-cut.

I always find that, like, brushing in competitions, I notice, at least, like, you can tell who knows how to brush and who doesn't know how to brush instantly.

Even if they're brushing, you know if they're, like, just, they'll brush, like, the most useless part of the hold, and I'll be like, what are you brushing right now? Like, we're brushing the hold that you're not even using in the boulder or the surface that you're not planning to use.
