One morning, I think 24 hours after I'd arrived at the ICU, the head of the ICU came to my bedside and said, "If we don't intubate you within the next hour, you're gonna be dead." Uh, the doctors told my daughter and my husband that things were looking very grim, and they hoped that all my affairs in- were in order.
He jumped up from his seat and legged it across the ICU and called out, "Rabbi," and Rabbi Elie stopped, and he said, "My wife is in trouble, but she's Jewish, and she would really appreciate it if this is her last day, that you could say some prayers." [upbeat music]
Joining me today, we have Nikki Goldstein, joining all the way from Australia, who's going to be talking to us about a book that she wrote together with her rabbi, Rabbi Elie Schlanger, that was called, that is called Conversations With My Rabbi: Timeless Teachings for a Fractured World.
