Welcome to the 43rd episode of O&P Rising, an original podcast series produced by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.

I'm Abbey Stepnitz, a certified prosthetist-orthotist at Anne and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

We are recording live in Nashville at the 52nd Annual Academy Meeting and Scientific Symposium, and I have the pleasure of welcoming John T. Brinkman, CPOL, Academy Fellow with Distinction, and David Spears, CPO, as my guests for this episode.

John is an associate professor in the Northwestern University Prosthetics Orthotics Center's Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics degree program.

He is the chair of the Academy's Behavioral Sciences Society and a former president of the Midwest Chapter.

Dave is an instructor at the Northwestern University Prosthetics Orthotics Center.

He was in clinical practice for more than 20 years, focusing on pediatric orthotic care, including scoliosis management, and he had the opportunity to mentor many O&P residents throughout his career.

It's great to be in Nashville at the 52nd Annual Academy Meeting and Scientific Symposium.
