Check out other ways to listen: https://linktr.ee/onemoregamettrpg Would you dare to venture into the dark woods if you knew what horrors lurked just beyond your line of sight? This week on One More…
Now, Nick, would you mind telling our dear viewers what Vason is exactly?
Yeah, Vason is a game published by Free League, which makes a whole host of great games, which we'll talk about as the show goes on.
But the game is kind of founded on Johann Egerkrantz's art, which I think is by far the most amazing part of this game.
To me, I love the art in this.
And the game itself is set in the late 19th century, undefined time specifically, but anywhere within that period.
And your players take on the role of investigators who are a part of this mysterious society.
And that's a capital S for society.
And this society is a shadowy group that investigates the activities of the mythic basin, which are creatures who lurk at the very edge of fairy tales and folklore from our fabled past.
It's a game that's full of mystery and horror and intrigue and magic.
And I just love every ounce of it.
And I'm so excited to get to talk about it today.
It's funny because going into this, I expected it to be like a little more horror, but it's actually, I think, very much a detective game.
I think that's its main focus.
And it has some horror elements, but I would kind of call it like cozy horror, if that makes sense.
No, I think it does.

I love that descriptor for them.
Because I know exactly the tone you're talking about, because that is exactly their MO.
And I think it really depends, and I agree with you, it depends on the Vason you're using for the game.
So this game is so centered around these creatures that are called Vason, and...
Depending on which basin you pick really determines the tone of the game, right? There are those very folksy kind of creatures like Nyssa and other fairies and other things that you can play a much more cozy style game, but you could also play some very horrific creatures in the game, werewolves and other, you know, especially in the Carpathia book, there are some really incredible horror creatures in there as well.
So you can really determine where you want to go with the game.
and uh just on the
topic of the creatures and you mentioned the other book as well uh these are all like real uh myths about fantasy creatures in scandinavia and uh the carpiece book is that like england carpathia carpathia is yeah eastern europe so it's like eastern europe yeah got it yeah and then there's the
