The Six Shooter presents “Britt Ponsett’s Christmas Carol,” episode 14, originally broadcast on December 20, 1953. James Stewart stars as drifting gunsmith Britt Ponsett in this NBC Radio Network holiday episode.
Near Thompson’s Corners, Britt encounters a young runaway who wants no part of Christmas. Around a campfire, Britt shares a frontier-flavored retelling of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, with Howard McNear featured as Scrooge. Frank Burt’s story, directed by Jack Johnstone, brings a warm Western perspective to a classic holiday tale.
Old Time Western Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
