I work with athletes from all over the world through my online private practice and sports nutrition programs.

We here at nutritional revolution are here to cut through the BS promoted in the media and give you the science literally straight from the research articles, as well as share client success stories and experiences around nutrition and racing.

Please keep in mind, this podcast is created strictly for educational purposes only and should never be used as a replacement for medical diagnosis and treatment.

And today we have for you guys, Dr. Emily Lance, and she is an assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and Health Behavior in the School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biochemistry from Iowa State University, a PhD in Nutrition Science from Purdue University, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in skeletal muscle metabolism from the Division of Rehabilitation Science, University of Texas Medical Branch.

Dr. Lance's research interests broadly focuses on two main themes, the effects of physical inactivity on skeletal muscle mass and functional capacity in middle-aged and older adults with an emphasis on aging women, and two, the application and mechanism of action of amino acid and protein consumption on acute markers of anabolism, essentially muscle protein synthesis.

We got into all things regarding like injured athletes and what happens to muscle when we keep it immobilized and how can we mitigate maybe lean mass losses.
