**The North Melbourne Kangaroos Clubcast has plenty to unpack this week.** - Caroline Wilson reveals the latest on Alastair Clarkson's future — and the spray that caught everyone by surprise. - North…
Luke McDonaldGuestCaro, we start with you tonight, and some frustrations at North Melbourne with the coach, Alastair Clarkson.
Where does this stem from?
We spoke about Alastair Clarkson last night, and my view was I felt that North Melbourne would be unlikely to move on Alastair Clarkson because of the year left going on his contract.
As we sit here tonight, I'm not so sure.
I'm not saying Alastair's out, but he's definitely not in.
Now, in a sense, this is an old story, and we reported it back in May when Alastair Clarkson delivered a massive spray at Zurich on behalf of Angus Brayshaw and that failed concussion claim.
Now, it's one thing for Max Gawn to have a crack at Melbourne's major sponsor, because it's his club.
It's quite another thing for the North Melbourne coach to do it.
Now, we know that what happened, um, about two months later is that Melbourne were in negotiations with Zurich.
Zurich felt unloved by Melbourne.
They made a, what Melbourne felt was a not respectful offer for a new deal, and the two parties have separated.
So Zurich won't be Melbourne's major sponsor anymore.
Melbourne are looking for a new major sponsor.
North Melbourne was not happy that Alastair had done this, and their CEO, Jen Watt, who's had to deal with a bit with Alastair, it must be said, apologized to her then, um, her th- the then Melbourne CEO, Brian Cook.
I'm told that Sonja Hood also apologized to Steven Smith, the Melbourne president, and Melbourne, uh...
North Melbourne are refusing to comment today as to whether they chastised Alastair about it.
Now-
So did North c- did North apologize off the back of Melbourne making it known to them that they were unhappy-
No
... about that? They did it-
No.
And, and Alastair-
Oh
...
in fairness, and Luke, you worked with him for many years, if there's one thing Alastair hated at Hawthorn is when people commented on his club or if Hawthorn people spoke about other, other clubs.
