have been ears deep in World Cup soccer.

Go USA.

Go Team Sweden.

FIFA and Lenovo teamed up to pull off a massive scanning operation, creating highly accurate 3D digital twin avatars for all 1,248 players in the tournament.

Each scan took one second.

How long did that take? One second.

I don't have time for this.

Just a picture? You can't even take a picture in one second.

To make an avatar, yeah, absolutely amazing, which gives them ultra-precise tracking.

The avatars are synced with the stadium's 12 tracking cameras in the ceiling, and they've captured data a little over 50 times per second, as well as the sensor that's inside the ball.

So the ball's movement, by the way, is tracked 500 times per second.

The system tracks 29 separate places on each player's body.

It kind of strikes me as odd that that's an odd number.

Okay, well, I mean, they couldn't find a 30th place that they really thought was necessary.

Oh, they did.

You got to pay extra for that.

That's the World Cup night feed.

The result of all of this is absolutely perfect reffing.

Completely fair.

When the U.S. scored its second goal against Paraguay only to have that goal rescinded because the video assistant referee found that Christian Pulitzer had been off sides, no one argued against it because it really happened.

The computer really saw it and it doesn't miss calls either.

Unlike NBA reffing, which is completely random.

They catch this, but they miss this.

All those errors kind of ruin the sport for me.

I think there was a World Cup game like maybe 12-ish years ago, like three or four cycles ago.
