Well, there was one thing I wanted to talk about before we actually get into this month's feature, and that was a little bit of Godzilla news that we got this week.
Now, [chuckles] for some of you, by the time you listen to this episode, you've probably already heard about this for a couple of weeks now, but it's still kind of fresh in our minds right now, and I wanted to get my co-hosts' opinion.
Yes, my friends, we can expect a little bit of gore, maybe some legit horror set pieces in this one.
So I just wanted to get my co-hosts' thoughts on what they think about that.
Is this a good thing? Could this turn into a bad thing? I just wanted to get some general opinions before we get to this month's feature.
So let's go ahead and bring in Don first.
Even, you know, the, the darker stuff like, uh, the original or, you know, Godzilla versus Hedorah or e-even Destoroyah had kind of like dark, violent themes that, you know, it was a little bit more violent.
Um, you know, you had Shin Godzilla, which, you know, visibly showed Godzilla suffering damage and, you know, you, you see like huge swaths of, you know, blood raining down on, you know, the populace and stuff like that.
It's not something that I, I really expect with my monster movies just because with these, they're, they're usually so much bigger, and they're usually like, you know, so much larger than life that I don't expect, you know, dead alive when, you know, I, I, I turn on, you know, one of my Godzilla movies.
You look at the Gamera series, you know, especially the Showa stuff, some of that was pretty violent and, you know, they were still genuinely considered kiddie films.
For Godzilla Minus Zero, it, it kind of was heading in that direction anyway just because of the, the themes it presented, what it was trying to say, where, you know, where it was going in the story.
I think if they played it off and they kind of kept the same mentality, the same, you know, presentation, it was probably gonna skirt the boundaries anyway, and, you know, knowing where they're going with-- I have a very strong hunch where I think they're going with this, and it, it could be something new.
I mean, it, it could be something we're genuinely going for, you know, the, the unrestrained, the, you know, full throttle in your face kind of an approach.
I think that can kind of add a different dimension to it, to what's going on here, rather than just keeping everything strictly locked down in, you know, the, the PG, PG-13 realm.
So I, I wanna see it more just out of curiosity to see if my hunch is right, and, um, I'll explain more about that, uh, before we get started just so that way I can, you know, fully lay claim to spoilers and stuff.
But- Yeah, as of now, I, I'm curious to see where it's gonna go, to see how close my hunches are.
