Psalm 131 | Songs for Summer

Good morning.

Welcome to New Life Church.

I hope you are all doing well.

It's the Lord's Day, and we're excited to worship the Lord and to sit under his word today and to see what he has in store for us.

The title for today's message is The Rest of a quiet soul.

And we're going to be continuing our series in the book of Psalms.

We've got just only a couple more Psalms left, and then we'll be jumping back into our regular series that we've been doing through the whole Bible, which is called The One Story.

So if you don't have a Bible, there should be one in front of you.

Otherwise, the words are going to be on the screen.

But we'll be looking at today Psalm 131.

It's a nice and short one, three verses.

And here we'll be thinking through the good news of Jesus, the good news that God brings us today, that God is God, so we don't have to be.

That's good news, isn't it? That God is God, so that we don't have to be.

But without that understanding, every human being has to answer this one question.

And it's probably not a question you woke up with today, but it's probably a question that you've wrestled with some in your life.

It's probably something like this.

Who is going to carry the weight of the world? If God is not God, then who is going to carry the weight of the world? Imagine a universe without God.

No creator, no sovereign king, no ultimate justice, no ultimate purpose, no final redemption.

If God is not God, then that means the load of that is then gonna have to be placed on one of us.

You realize that the burden might have to fall on you.
