So I guess what we're here to talk about is obviously Neverknot Creative's Mission and passion is around supporting the mental wellbeing of the creative industry.
And one of the things, you know, that's not always about how do we directly offer support for mental health, but how do we help make things a little bit easier that can get very, very stressful.
So obviously one of the things that we launched a couple of years ago now was a thing called the support line.
And the idea behind the support line is that I think I'd had a lot of conversations with people who were making decisions about staying in a business because of how they were treated and making that actually kind of giving the businesses a get out of jail free card in a way in that they just decide to leave because of the conditions that they were having to work in or the way they were being treated.
And I think at the same time, I'd have conversations with people who were usually went in, had this little black book of where to not work in this industry because of the experiences perhaps that they'd had.
And I'll always remember someone pointing out to me in an article on Campaign Brief about an individual that had left a business, the comments section, and people had kind of written what was really going on in this story by using the first line of each line in the comment section to spell out what was going on.
And I think the biggest thing for me was that people are signing things like NDAs without actually getting advice first and without perhaps understanding their rights.
So that was why we launched this idea of, well, can we get people free legal advice without them making decisions about whether they should leave and whether they should just move on and have it really affect their lives in some cases.
So that's when we came knocking and said, oh, is this something that perhaps you could offer? So if we look at that kind of, I think for me, it feels often like there's a bit of a power imbalance and that does have a huge effect on people's mental health because that's the stuff that you can't switch off.
