But first, Dan, I, I liked how you just-- you asked him to say more about his views on sleep apnea.
You said, "Uh, tell me, tell me about sleep apnea, what it means to you," all that.
And then he, he said something that, uh, I guess some people would call resistance, now we call discord, where he's, uh, he's pushing back on it.
The next thing he said was much less-- with much less attitude, just much calmer.
Yeah, I think that is a skill that you learn, that you-- people can, can offer the same paragraph, and you can choose to interpret it in a way that, that sort of emphasizes their sustained talk or, you know, what you might have called their resistance, their-- them being difficult.
Or if you go into it with just a sense of goodwill and giving them the benefit of the doubt, and you, you sort of insist that, "I'm gonna hear this in the most generous way possible," and then reflect back that generous interpretation.
I mean, he was describing himself as a person who's willing to try multiple things and who didn't give up right away.
Yeah, you can, you can hear part of him feels like he's a failure and he's falling apart.
But I, I'm assuming that there is another part that's determined and committed to caring for himself, and by choosing to focus on that, we, we strengthen it.
