Listener sentiment
Nature Guys enjoys robust listener enthusiasm, with the overwhelming majority of recent reviews expressing deep appreciation for the podcast's welcoming approach to local natural history. Listeners consistently praise host Bob's genuine passion, the conversational and accessible style that engages both children and adults, and the show's ability to inspire outdoor exploration—many explicitly credit episodes with motivating real-world changes like planting native species or building backyard water features. The production quality, episode length, and absence of ads or donation appeals are frequently noted as strengths. A recurring sentiment across reviews is feeling emotionally connected to the hosts, with many describing the experience as "hanging out with friends." One substantive criticism emerged in recent episodes around a feral cat population discussion, where a listener argued the show presented trap-neuter-release programs in an irresponsibly negative light without acknowledging their reproductive control benefits. Several reviews reference nostalgia for original co-host Bill, who passed away, though listeners acknowledge Bob and new guest hosts maintain the show's quality and warmth.
