Welcome back to the Nasty Graham RPG Podcast.
Feeling
it too hard is the poison to the heart of a cynic.
Now I'm waking to...
The camera looks down upon a small square on a hill in a mostly residential area.
Dominating the square is a large masonry water tower converted recently to an anti-aircraft platform.
Guns and soldiers bristling from the top.
Civilians walk through the square, some just enjoying the summer morning, some heading off to work.
The camera starts to focus on a man wearing a suit, wide-brimmed hat, with a newspaper tucked under his arm as he walks through the square and comes to a stop in front of a bench.
He sits, unfolds the newspaper in his lap, takes a pipe and tobacco out, lights it, holds the pipe up to his mouth, inhaling once and exhaling.
He looks down at the newspaper in his lap, and the camera holds there.
Several minutes pass.
Smoke curls from the pipe, which sits unmoving in his hand.
The newspaper flutters in the breeze, his head tilted down towards it, but as the camera lowers, we see his eyes are closed, and as we look close, his whole body seems to gently tremble.
We pull back to see a woman walking past, her spotted white bulldog trotting behind her.
As they pass in front of the man, suddenly the dog whimpers in distress.
The woman kind of looks back, calls to him, and as they take a few more steps forward, suddenly the dog stops whimpering, but seems agitated, looking around.
The woman seems confused, but they walk on, the dog slowly returning to normal.
We look back, camera pulling back to the man as his eyes snap open.
He taps the pipe out on the side of the bench, folds up the newspaper stands, and walks out of the square.
