On April 21, 1976, six bandits raided the Victoria Club, where Melbourne's biggest bookies were settling their accounts with cash.
No one knows the exact figure, but it was supposed to be in the vicinity of $15 million.
Tonight, an Australia wide hunt is continuing for the Victoria Club bandits, so far without success.
What sort of people pulled off this great bookies robbery?
I think they'd be pretty well educated crims.
There was no abuse, no threatening, just they asked us to comply with what they said, and we did.
The criminal wall of silence has remained intact, and the great bookie robbery remains one of this country's greatest unsolved mysteries.
The team was Ray Chuck, Ian Fingers Carroll, Lawrence Prendergast, Normie Chops Lee, Vinnie Mickelson, and Tony McNamara.
