Ever wondered what naturopathic medicine actually is — and whether it could work for you? In this episode, we break down what a naturopath does, how their approach differs from conventional medicine…
Hey Georgia, welcome to the podcast.
Thanks so much for being here.
Thanks for having me.
We are going to talk about all things naturopathy today, but if you'd like to get us started by telling us a bit about you.
Yeah, so I am a clinical naturopath here at MyWord Health.
I have completed my Bachelor of Health Science and I just slowly found my way into really, really finding women's health and children's health so fascinating.
And outside of work, I have a little daughter, she's almost four, a partner.
We live out on a dairy farm, so we're very outdoorsy people and love getting outside and doing
outdoorsy
things
yeah
yeah
and um how did you end up in your current role did you always want to be a naturopath what does that journey look like for
you yeah so no I actually like and up until a few years ago I didn't even know what naturopathy was So it's been quite a journey to get here, definitely.
But yeah, I guess my whole life I just, even mum is always telling me that I've always been so interested in the why.
Like why is that happening? Why would we be doing that? And I guess that kind of led me to feeling like I was really interested in the human body and like the systems and kind of like the whole physiology as to why things are happening.
And yeah, I didn't really know what I was, where I was going to go.
So I went into nursing.
And that definitely fulfilled like a big part of that like fascination for the human body but it was really lacking in the fact that it was kind of like you're sick, here's what you take when you're sick, goodbye, like don't come back until... you're sick again.
And it wasn't really about that wellness and preventative approach.
And there was always more depth to why things were happening.
And I take my hat off to nurses, like such a hard role, so fulfilling.
But yeah, eventually I became a mum quite young.
And yeah, my own kind of experiences and troubles with things like recurrent mastitis and sleep troubles and just lots of different things kind of led me to uncovering what naturopathy was through my own struggles and I'm obsessed with it now like I my naturopath I went to to begin with I was just like I'm going to start studying the top of the, and here I am.
So yeah, it's been quite the journey.
