How much do you really need to spend to get a great muzzleloader? In this episode of the Muzzle-Loaders Podcast, Coulton and Jordan compare some of their favorite budget muzzleloaders under $500 with…
All right, I'm going to lean over here and grab my rifle.
And this is your budget option, essentially.
We're under $500 for these
What did you
pick?
Yeah, this is my budget option.
So what I have here is a Traditions Pursuit XT Pro.
So this is the second iteration they'd come out with.
So the reason I picked this is it did meet the criteria of under $500, which I honestly kind of think is surprising considering all of its features.
So start off with you have an adjustable cheek comb, which you do not really see on that many budget muzzleloaders, if any.
So you can get your face exactly where you need it.
If you have, you know... a certain like eye level that you need to meet with your scope or just depending on your bone structure that's actually a factor and then secondly it's sort of like this really surprising feature to see on a budget muzzleloader is a threaded muzzle so you can put a muzzle brake on there which is Becoming exceedingly popular, of course, you can't shoot Sabos through a muzzle brake, but for many other bullets, you can, and it reduces recoil
and is a
super nifty feature.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, I think that's a pretty good pick.
I know when I was doing my list as well, I definitely looked at that model.
I think the exact same one, because I think bang for the buck wise, what you get on that
gun is
very, very good for being under 500 bucks.
I know Traditions has their chromoly barrels.
They've got a faster twist rate in some of their guns with the vapor twist rate, which in my experience has proven to be extremely accurate.
Now, That guy's closer to that budget limit.
So I imagine with accessories and stuff, you'd probably go up over that $500 budget.
