Mostly Yelling #6: Dave Otero on Flatline Fest, the Archspire Drummer Debacle, and Getting Engaged

Hello and welcome to another episode of the Mostly Yelling Podcast.

This week I am joined by the legendary, legendary Dave Otero.

That joke is going to make sense in about two minutes, but right now it just sounds like

weird.

It was a really great conversation.

We talked about everything from Dave getting engaged during an aborted show at the Brutal Assault Festival.

to the first ever Flatline Festival that was held in Denver, Colorado this June and featured bands like Archspire and Cattle Decapitation and Aborted and Alligeon and Nuclear Power Trio and pretty much every band that Dave has ever worked with.

There was also an alternate reason for this festival, and I'll let Dave get into that in a little bit.

And of course, we get into a little bit of the nitty gritty behind the recent Archspire documentary that revealed that they actually hired a new drummer.

The drummer got to the studio to record Archspire's new record, Too Fast to Die, and then it turned out that the person couldn't play any of the material up to the quality that the band thought they could.
