Today's episode kicks off a short series on restarting your weight loss. An important step that often gets overlooked is understanding why you're stuck or the patterns and habits that prevent your…
Why are you actually stuck? Why are you stuck? What is holding you back? Now, there is no one specific answer.
There can be many, many reasons based on your past, your current situation, like many, many reasons why you're stuck, but this is something we have to address.
I address this a lot in my coaching, obviously, to give me an understanding of a starting point, maybe your diet history, your background, but we gotta know what's working, what's not working.
What are you doing? Where do we need to improve? What, what do we wanna maintain? Like, there's, there's so much to this.
But ultimately, why are you stuck? Now, if you're someone who, you know, this is post-holiday season, post-summer vacation travels, you know, like, yeah, I've been eating out.
I've been indulging.
I just haven't been doing what I should be doing, then the answer might be a little more plain and simple.
Then yes, we need to get you, [laughs] you know, a little more routine, a little more structure.
If you still are in season of travel, we can't have every meal be indulgent.
Can be a little more straightforward.
Whereas if you have a history of dieting, then there can be more complex, we'll say, history with food, history with self-esteem.
There can be all sorts of things with your body going on, like you've, you know, been on low-carb diets for as long as you remember, and we need to try to incorporate some carbs back in your life.
Like, there's a process to doing that.
But it doesn't mean you can't lose weight.
It doesn't mean all is lost.
But you do have to start with figuring out, why am I stuck? Why am I not losing weight? If you don't start with this question, you probably are just going to pick the latest trendy diet.
Maybe you just pick a random workout to do.
And it's not that working out is bad.
Any exercise is good.
But punishing yourself with exercise isn't the answer, isn't gonna save you.
Point being, if you are just randomly picking stuff, it's like throwing pasta at the wall, hoping it sticks.
It might, but it might not.
And then if it does stick, what do we do? Do you leave it up on the wall and keep going? Or do you realize that, hey, I might have figured out how to maintain this? Because my biggest thing, how to lose the weight is how you're gonna maintain it.
Yes, there are differences in a weight loss phase and your day-to-day maintenance.
But if you don't know how to eat at restaurants, you don't know how to travel, you don't know how to fit fun in your life, you don't know how to cook some meals, like basics in life that we're all gonna encounter, ups and downs with emotions and stress.
