But we just don't talk about it, because there's this kind of cultural narrative around the first trimester that says, "Survive until 12 weeks, and then you can start preparing.
Wait until you look pregnant.
Wait until your appointments begin.
Wait until there's something definite to plan for." And by the time those families come to me at 20, 24, 30 weeks, they'll often say the same thing, "Pip, I wish I had started sooner.
