Thanks for tuning in! What kind of horror fan are you? Let me know in the comments or follow our links and let me know there. I try to be as active on social media as possible but you’ll probably…
So all of that to say this: The most recent Halloween trilogy, Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends, I absolutely hated.
Um, yeah, not for me Uh, I remember me and my wife watched the first remake Halloween, I think it came out in 2018, and I wasn't too mad about it.
Uh, I definitely remember feeling a little bit underwhelmed, but I think that was mostly because they kind of like alley-ooped it for, uh, for another movie, you know? And I kind of always hate whenever movies do that.
But, uh, I remember when the second one came out, Halloween Kills, and one of my friends, who will remain, remain nameless, uh, came to visit us, and he begged and begged and begged for us to go see Halloween Kills in theaters.
Um, after seeing the first one, I was just kinda like, "Whatever." Like, let it die, you know? Like, I-- you see it time and time again of these horror movie franchises just never knowing when to end.
And of course, with the Halloween franchise, with Halloween Ends, you can definitely argue that it ended, of course.
You know, there's so many franchises where there's like 27 movies, and it's like, oh my God, they had, they had three movies that were great at the beginning, and a, a, a great idea for a, a, an antagonist, you know, and it is-- didn't let it go.
And I don't think I've ever laughed at a movie so hard that I don't think was supposed to be funny.
And there's one scene in particular that still sticks out to me, and it's a scene where, um, the group of people is like wrestling with Michael Myers in a car.
And I think it's the lady in the passenger seat goes in the glove box and pulls out like literally like a Desert Eagle, and goes around the car to the driver's side and is going to shoot Michael Myers, and he like kicks the door, and the door hits the gun, and she shoots herself in the head.
I was like, "Okay, you g- [chuckles] you gotta be kidding me." Like, I don't think this is supposed to be funny, but I am laughing very hard.
And this is a feeling that I've gotten a lo- a lot, a lot, um, with more recent horror movies, where it's like I'm not laughing 'cause I'm, I'm, I'm happy and this is funny.
And I remember specifically when the movie ended, I turned to my friend and I s- I, I said, "I didn't know this was supposed to be a comedy." So there's that.
And then there's the whole scene in Halloween Kills where they chase around the guy in the asylum who very obviously isn't Michael Myers, and they chase him for like a quarter of the movie thinking that he's Michael Myers.
