So four years ago in September, I had this crazy idea while I was working.
At the time, I had been consuming a lot of horror content of the audio variety, you know, horror podcasts, a lot of audio dramas, you know, that kind of thing.
And the reason I had the idea to do this was because I, I fell in love with the audio drama, uh, idea, you know, uh, but I felt like there was a lack, uh, or there was a lack of like a dedicated audio drama anthology podcast.
Um, and sure there's plenty of horror podcasts that tell stories and, um, have sound effects and stuff like that, but I'm sorry for the bird.
I honestly just wanted a more theater-like, in-depth, more involved horror podcast anthology.
And that's really where Midnight Mirror was born.
And I didn't realize at the time how much work it would be.
And I heavily underestimated that big time.
But when I made the first episode, it was very short and sweet and quick.
I think I did the entire thing in one day.
If not one day, then two days max.
I know it was the same day that I thought of the idea, so there wasn't a whole lot of thought.
The story wasn't totally fleshed out, you know, everything was kind of rushed.
I really just wanted to get the idea out of my brain and, you know, have something tangible.
So, you know, first episode did okay.
I was happy with it, but I knew I could do better.
So I knew as soon as the first episode came out that the second episode I was going to put more effort in, in all aspects.
You know, I was going to... try to write out the story a little bit better more thoughtfully um uh you know include more sound effects and better sound effects maybe include other people or maybe you know dip my toes a little bit more into voice acting you know which is something that i've never done before so episode two took me a lot longer right uh because of those things because i wanted to produce a better product And by the time I was finished with episode two, I was extremely proud of it.
And to this day, I think it's the best performing episode that I ever did.
But of course, once that second one was out of my system, I wanted to make the third one in the same fashion, better than the second one.
