In the eighth episode of Method, I chat with Sarvi. Sarvi is a solo artist located in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her first release was in 2023, when she was creating music with The Winch. Sarvi now releases…
So when you went into creating music, did you have an idea of what you wanted your music to sound like? Or did you just kind of go in really open minded?
I'm just shocked that you'd
And then you just came in and then and because that EP, it sounds so like... complete of how you sound then versus now and it was like quite a few years ago yeah yeah so it's just did you kind of
go in yeah I went in really open-minded I think I felt really safe with them and we were like, we could try anything, but the live aspect is what we wanted.
Like it fully being as live as possible, you know, and recording the instruments live and like doing all of that.
And then the writing side, I think, I was in such a weird time in my life at that time I think at that age as well yeah it's just like a weird time that age you're like all these emotions like oh my god and then like all these things happening around you and I just felt real like dark I guess and I think when we were writing the songs as well a lot of the boys were kind of feeling like that as well it kind of made like the idea of writing about that stuff like an easy thing to to write about yeah and having willie who's from no cigar he is an incredible songwriter so he just sat down with me and was like okay like help me out got all my like thoughts out did it all for me and i was like
you know,
then that taught me how to like do the writing myself too.
And then it just all came together.
So, so I went on a crazy tangent there.
No, no, that's
I, yeah, it's, it seemed like such a, um, incredible time in your life and really shaped who you are as an artist, but also probably who you are as a person, I think.
yeah yeah I also think it's like so much easier to write sad songs than happy songs yeah
