I'm excited for our episode today, where we are going to be talking about from kitchen to counter, who actually owns the grant.
So one of the things that, you know, in our years of experience in working with a variety of different nonprofit organizations, many people, many organizations behave as though the grant professional owns everything, um, in the process, from program design all the way through report- reporting.
So we're gonna talk today and kind of unpack that responsibility across leadership, program, finance, evaluation, and grant teams.
But in our shortened format, so we probably won't have time to go through all of those things in detail, but we're gonna talk big picture-
... about kind of this ownership process.
So Valerie, in your experience, like who do you think owns the program design process?

The way that we construct it, and especially in our contracts, are that the client or the nonprofit organization owns the, the program design.

We own the strategic process that we use to help clients kind of flesh out the program.

We own the process for helping them to create a budget and be responsible with those numbers.

And so we have that spelled out fairly clearly in our contract when we, before we even engage with a client, because it's important for them to understand this will be, you know, your information, and you can do whatever you want with it.

So they have whatever use they want i- is great, but we do retain the right to our processes that we've developed over the past, you know, 26 years.
