So where this came from, I've just finished reading Brené Brown's latest book, I highly recommend-
She said, "Stop being nice and telling people what they wanna hear, and start being kind and telling people what they need to hear."
I mean, it was, like, within hours, and the executive I'm on the call with, um, was replaying for me a meeting that he had been in, and there was a bit of a urgency going on in the business situation.
One of the people, the, uh, junior people that he called in to help gave themself permission to go into the senior executive's office and start just diagnosing the problem, and had come up with a, a, a, a good idea, but it wasn't urgent.
And I asked the, my exec, I said, "What did you do?" He says, "Well, I didn't wanna, uh, you know, interrupt, and I didn't wanna, uh, be, you know, rude, and I didn't wanna..." And I'm- I just feel my, you know, my steam rising in my ears and I'm thinking, wait a minute.
