The Mayor has paid her respects for the extremely generous Sunshine Coast couple.
You have got some sad news to share involving some really beautiful people on the Sunshine Coast.
Yes, and that is Roy and Nola Thompson.
And a lot of people would know that name.
They have been incredible philanthropists.
They have donated so much.
You think about the Thompson Institute, the Thompson Brain and Mind Institute, the the Thompson Charitable Trust at the Budrum Foundation, Thompson House from Wishlist.
They've donated to the Nambour Tram Company, like so far and wide, and they have both passed.
And Nola was 90 and Roy would have been 96 this week, but he was 95.
Oh, this is so good.
Such sad news.
Yeah.
I mean, they've kept it completely under wraps, right?
Yeah, yeah.
So they had a private funeral for Nola on Friday, so that has been private with the family.
And then Roy's funeral will be on Thursday the 27th, and that will be a big and public affair.
Okay.
There will be lots of dignitaries out because this couple have transformed the Sunshine Coast.
There would not be very many people who haven't heard of their generosity but also been touched by it.
When you look at the breadth of it, you know, from education to health to those trusts that are held at the Budrum Foundation go out to small community groups.
Yeah.
So it is a loss for our community, but their legacy, it's extraordinary.
Yeah.
And what an inspiration.
Yeah.
