And the comments were not about it.
An allowance as an adult is crazy.
I will always be making my own money.
I'm sorry, I'm doing what I want and not limiting myself unless it comes to larger purchases.
A life I would never ever wanna live.
No planning, no preparation, just vibes.
I don't wanna be a stay-at-home mom unless I can still get the same money I was making when I worked, lol.
It's not a luxury if I can't continue my regular lifestyle.
people had a lot of feelings about this video and let's get into it okay i hate breaking the fourth wall every single time because it kind of ruins the magic you know but a lot of these things that we see on tiktok the 40 a week allowance there's another lady she made 20 a week allowance like they know it's rage bait okay and like it's their hustle it's their grind okay i get it and that's why i'm also making a commitment to not comment on the video itself but rather the reaction to the video because this is going viral for a reason and i want to get to the bottom of why this is going viral so this $40 $20 a week allowance video went viral and that's because i think a lot of the girlies especially on social media are feeling broke stay-at-home mom fatigue y'all be
pouring getting pregnant and having babies and then deciding to be stay at home moms because you cannot afford childcare and then getting on the internet, trying to make the world feel bad because your life as a stay at home mom is miserable.
Another sentiment as well that I have been sensing is that being a stay at home mom is a choice.
women on social media who are experiencing broke stay-at-home mom fatigue they are essentially saying that these broke stay-at-home moms cannot complain because they chose this suffering like this suffering is optional and therefore self-inflicted and therefore they can get themselves out of it they don't need our help and i keep seeing this sentiment on tiktok right it's like the broke stay-at-home mom suffering is self-inflicted go to work and it's been bothering me and i didn't know why until i started digging into it for many moms even though they did choose to have children, staying home wasn't really their choice.
like it was just a consequence of accepting this fantasy that motherhood is their highest calling and that they are somehow incomplete without it.
and because they embraced this fantasy, they had children no matter what, okay? they were part of the having children no matter what mentality.
and that's why even though the resources are not in place, the setup, the child care is not in place we covered the resilient jenkins family in a past video like that lady was putting her baby on the kitchen floor like a deep freezer you know like no preparation just vibes so these women who did ingest this narrative that motherhood is their highest calling they will go through with motherhood no matter what and that's because they feel like they should do it right then and there and like the earlier the better and that they could experience completeness earlier if they have children earlier like the god will provide mentality so coming back to this notion that being a stay-at-home mom is a choice what i'm seeing increasingly online and in real life is that a lot of stay-at-home moms actually did not plan on becoming
stay-at-home moms The main reason we had to give these things up is because I accidentally became a stay-at-home mom last year.
I thought I would return to work.
That never happened.
We lost an income.
Granted, my income was not that much, but income is still income.
