Making Everyday Magic: The Podcast

Why do people get so upset when you make a decision that has absolutely nothing to do with them? After 10 years of homeschooling, I've had plenty of experience with unsolicited opinions…
I'm gonna say it again.
It is not about you.
The reason this happens is that your decision, and even when people ask you for your input, when people search out my channel about homeschool, and they do not homeschool.
They come here just to argue about homeschooling.
And guess what? It doesn't have anything to do with me.
That has nothing to do with me.
That has to do with their feelings, their rage, their ignorance about their perception of homeschooling.
So, when people come to you with something, people will come to you, people will ask your opinion, and then they will not take your opinion, or they will get angry.
And that is because people do not want to listen to learn.
People do not want to get more information to change themselves.
This is very, very rare that that is actually the circumstance.
What is usually happening is that people want the outside world to reaffirm what they are doing, what they are feeling, and what they already know.
This is why it is so impossible to talk with some people.
This is why it is impossible to get along with some people, is because it does not have anything to do with you.
It does not even matter the information that you are giving them.
People search out validation for themselves, the way they are, what they're already doing, what they're already feeling, and what they're already thinking.
And I know that this has come up, especially it comes up a lot with homeschool.
People freak out, "Oh my gosh, you're gonna fail them.
What about that, oh, oh, oh?" It's all about the things I've heard, and not the things that you are going to share with me, being the person who is either actively doing it or who's actively researched it for your own children.
I, as a grandparent or a stranger at the grocery store, is going to get up in arms about the failures you are making despite knowing nothing of your situation.
That is what I'm gonna do.
I am not going to reach out to see how I can be a resource of help.
I am not going to reach out to see where these resources are that you have studied so that I can learn alongside you and see what the benefits or drawbacks are.
Absolutely not.
I'm gonna get loud, I'm gonna get proud, and I'm gonna question you.
I'm gonna say it again.
