Good evening.
It's great to have you with us here at a very busy Tuesday night.
We begin tonight with the verdict late today in the trial of a former American Idol contestant and pastor, Caleb Flynn, found guilty of murdering his wife.
The jury taking less than three hours to return their verdict.
Tonight, after deliberating less than three hours, an Ohio jury has found former pastor and one-time American Idol contestant Caleb Flynn guilty of killing his wife Ashley and staging the murder to look like a home invasion.
We, the jury in this case, being duly impaneled and swarmed, find the defendant, Caleb C. Flynn, guilty of murder.
Flynn breaking down as the verdict was read.
He's argued his wife, Ashley, a schoolteacher, was fatally shot in the head while in bed during a home burglary back in February.
Flynn, who said he had been on the couch and in their two young daughters' bedroom when the shooting occurred, made this 911 call sounding frantic.
Somebody broke into my home.
Somebody broke into my home.
He looks so
fake.
But prosecutors maintained it was a cover-up and argued Flynn was motivated by a nearly two-year-long affair with a woman he'd met at his church.
Remember, she said she wanted to kill his wife too.
I don't know why she wasn't charged.
And she didn't tell.
She knew.
And David, in a statement tonight, Ashley's family, it says her memory will live through their two daughters and that she loved being a mom.
Caleb Flynn could face a life in prison without parole when sentient.
