Let me know what you loved about the episode! What happens when you start working on yourself, but the people around you don't? Self-development…

Your self-development journey might cost you some relationships, and nobody really talks about that.

If you're new here, I'm Lisa, and I'm here to help you understand yourself a little bit better, let go of the stuff that's holding you back, and ultimately love your life a little bit more.

Today we're talking about something that I think is one of the most uncomfortable parts of self-development.

We usually hear all the good things about working on yourself, things like being more confident, improving your self-worth, setting boundaries, being happier.

But nobody necessarily tells you that when you start to change, your relationships can change, too, and sometimes that can be a really lonely part of the journey.

It's something that I have personally experienced myself, and a conversation that I'm having with a lot of people at the moment, actually, is that we find ourselves outgrowing the people that we were initially the closest to when we entered, um, this journey.

And when I say outgrowing, I don't necessarily mean in a I'm-better-than-you type of way.

It's more about, um, the version of me that entered this relationship isn't the version of me that is sitting here now, and I can honestly say that with most of the friendships that I have in my life right now.

Because as we develop ourselves, as we work on ourselves, our values might change.

Our priorities, our boundaries, um, even our interests, and certainly our expectations tends to change as well.

So I'd love to know, have you ever had a friendship or a relationship that suddenly felt different, but you couldn't quite put your finger on why? Um, because I'll be honest with you, that is one of the reasons why I started this podcast, because self-development can be surprisingly lonely.
