Donald Trump told his followers to "cheat like hell" in these midterms. Democrats aren't waiting around to see what that means — and you shouldn't either. On this episode of *Listen Up Loudoun*…
Can I jump in? One of my questions that I was going to ask later was what would be the most important role this year? But it sounds like poll observer is the clear front runner.
We are always looking for poll greeters and people to hand out sample ballots.
But it sounds like the poll observer role is really critical this time around.
From what I have learned from my 12 years being involved at the election office as an election officer is that all of the roles are important in the election.
the poll greeter is really a critical way that we can interact with the voters coming in.
Because again, what I have learned from my 12 years of working as an election officer is it is surprising how uninformed many of our voters are.
And what ends up happening, and I know this anecdotally and from my own personal experience, is they don't want to stop and engage with the poll breeders.
But the poll breeders are there to put information into their hand that they can take in and reference when they get in.
This is particularly important when there are races on the ballot that aren't affiliated with a political party.
This year, we have our three constitutional amendments that we want our people to vote yes on.
We need these things to go into their hands to go into the precinct, because guess what happens? People get into the precinct, they sign in the poll book, They get handed their ballot, they go into the booth and they're like, oh crap, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to vote on this.
So we need friendly, non-aggressive people who can engage with the voters and encourage them to take the literature into the precinct with them.
Can I ask you about, can you give some examples of what they're actually doing as a poll observer? Just in case we have people listening who sort of feel like, oh, you know what, I could do that.
It would be helpful if there was a description, like that was a great description of poll greeters.
So from my understanding of poll observer, and this is the one role I have never fulfilled because it conflicts with my role as an election officer and as a chief.
