This week on Limited Resources Marshall and Luis cover every single common and uncommon in The Hobbit! In what feels like a return to Magic's fantasy roots (even though it's technically not), The…
Kinda, I, is it random? There's five color pairs that they chose here, Luis, but, uh, you know, oftentimes we think in terms of, uh, allied or enemy color pairs, and maybe they'll grab, you know, the five enemy or the five allied.
It has, I think, two allied and three enemy pairs for, I, I don't really know why.
The supported draft archetypes are, uh, blue, white, red, black as allied, and then black, green, red, white, and blue, green as enemy.
Um, [smacks lips] and there's not al- there's also not a mechanic that, like, lines up exactly to every color pair, uh, though there are some where that's the m- that's the kind of the prominent theme.
So, uh, red, white is dwarves, and storied is the, is the kinda big mechanic here.
If you control three or more artifacts, legendaries, and/or sagas, as well as a card that has the ability storied, you have an enduring story for the rest of the game.
The rest of the game part is the, is, is kind of how it's similar to, uh, uh, city's blessing.
So once you've hit storied, you have an enduring story the rest of the game.
It doesn't matter if you then go down on those permanents or you lose the permanent that has storied.
So to give you an example, the one they used in their, in their mechanics article, is Thorin Oakenshield, right? It's red, white for a 3/2 legendary dwarf noble.
So he's, he says, "Okay, look for three more, three or more legends, uh, artifacts, or sagas," of which he is one, so you just need two more.
And he also says, "As long as you have an enduring story, artifacts and creatures you control have ward one." So s- like city's blessing, storied doesn't inherently do anything, but there are cards that say, "Hey, as long as you have an enduring story, do X, you know, output X." And, uh, [smacks lips] it's not that complicated a mechanic once you explain it.
But basically what it means is if you have one of these cards and if you have two other cards, whether that be eve- artifacts...
