Episode 42: Powering the Future: An Update from Bismarck State College

So let's talk a little bit about what we're doing now at Bismarck State.

And I see Carrie from the foundation out there.

Carrie, give a wave.

All right.

If you want to give money to the foundation or sponsor scholarships, talk to her.

She'll take it all.

But on a serious note, you know, Bismarck State's been a great college for a long time.

And when you look at the slide right here, we only got two slides, but who we are and what makes us different is the hands-on polytechnic.

I mean, that's our bread and butter.

We've got the technical programs.

We've got the certificates.

We just had a meeting earlier today with TrainND about the offerings that we have to help business, whether it's the young man or woman that's 18 years old going to school, somebody who's been out in the workforce for a while that wants to come back for a few things, or basically you want some extra job training.

You know, we can set up courses through TrainND.

I want to give a little push for that now too, that if you want some, add a certain skill set to your business, please let us know because we can go out there and do it under TrainND as well.

But when you look at the state of North Dakota, the population is growing very slowly.

So when you look at higher ed, we do have a growing high school population.

Not that much, but we are growing.

But we need to figure out how to keep the 11 colleges and universities gainfully employed.

So my goal at Bismarck State is really to keep us separated from the group that we are the hands-on institution.

If you want to come here, do something where you can learn how to do it, and you can hit the job right away, this is the place to be.
