His life is unrivaled in the Book of Genesis in both suffering and success, and there's so much that the author of Hebrews could have said about Joseph's life, and we find what he said in Hebrews 11:22.
It says, "By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones." You see, we see the final scene, the final moment of his life here in Hebrews 11:22, and what we find is that Joseph had faith in God in this final moment of his life because he had a strong faith throughout many moments in his life.
And it's those two words in Hebrews 11, "his life," it captures so much, over 14 chapters in the Book of Genesis.
But since Joseph was a prophetic dreamer, I think it is fitting to frame his life as two main scenes, the nightmare and the dream.
So if you're taking notes, the first lesson that we can learn from Joseph's life is how to have faith when life is a nightmare.
I'm sure his parents had many big and great dreams for his young life, and he would later have great and divine dreams for his own life.
But those dreams are quickly and tragically turned into a nightmare at a very young age.
That was just a dream." But let me ask you, how do you have faith when the reality that you're living through is a nightmare that you can't wake up from? How do you have faith when you're living the nightmare? Before Joseph was even a teenager, his mother unexpectedly died giving birth to his little brother.
Uh, we have, uh, four kids, Tori and I, and, and I, I see what she means to them in their young age, and, and I can't quantify, it, it cannot be fully understood, it is impossible to express how great a loss this was in Joseph's young life.
He, he has a, a stepmother and stepbrothers, but, but his mother, who loved him deeply, is now gone.
And thenHe has these dreams, and these dreams actually turn his life more into a nightmare at first.
It says in Genesis 37, "But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all of his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.
