Episode 159: War of the Worlds

I just think the universe is so big.

Like it's, yeah, it would be weird for it to end on just this tiny little planet.

And I will say, I think one of the reasons I don't think we've had being to being like one-on-one contact with them is because, um, spielberg's never had being to being one on one contact with them

that's the guy they're gonna go to isn't it like if someone is gonna be our ambassador yeah

oh i saw i and he's mad about it i don't know if you've seen that clip going around i saw that yeah they ask him if he's ever like had an encounter and he goes no and it should be me i do anyone it should be me

i agree wholeheartedly if we had to choose an ambassador to meet little guys from another world i'm back in i'm back in grandpa steve i'm not yeah yeah anyone else to get to do it yeah

uh anyway to answer the actual question of what i think about where the world this is a pretty good movie um i think people call it lower tier spielberg i don't I think it's probably in the middle for me somewhere.

But it's also one of those things that, like, there's the Spielberg curve where it's, like, once again, if you or I made this War of the Worlds, we would be hailed as the next Spielberg.

Like, everyone would be losing their minds over it.

But because Spielberg made this Spielberg War of the Worlds, it's just like, oh, yeah, he can do that.

Like, we know he can do that.

Yeah.

Yeah, Spielberg's mid is another director's finest work.

Masterpiece,

Yeah, that's just the way it is.

It had probably been close to 20 years since I've seen this movie.

I think I saw it when it came out, and I don't think I've revisited it since.

I know you watched it last year or a couple years ago because you had the urge to watch it, or you weren't sure when we were going to cover it on the pod.
