Judges ch.19 v.1-10 The Beginning of the Story of the Concubine

Book of Judges, chapter 19.

"And it came to pass in those days, there was no king in Israel.

And there was a certain Levite, and he lived on the side of Mount Ephraim.

And this man from Har Ephraim, this Levite, he took for himself a pilegesh, a concubine, out of Bethlehem, which is in Judah." Okay, so like we said when we began the story of Pesel Michah back in chapter 17, from chapter 17 through the end of the book, it's essentially an appendix.

It's a series of stories that are meant to give us an overall picture of the state of the Jewish people during the period of the judges.

And so the previous episode we learned about Pesel Michah, that was to teach us the situation during the time of the judges, the relationship between Adam L'Makom, man towards God, where we saw idol worship.

And this story is teaching us what was going on Ben Adam L'Chavero, how man was treating man.

And the first verse opens up with an expression we've seen a few times.
