One of the best parts about getting older is realizing how many things simply don't deserve your energy. In this solo episode, Erin reflects on the expectations, pressure, perfectionism, and…
The first thing that I am not worrying about anymore is I don't want to worry about being perfect anymore.
But when I was living my young Mormon housewife days in that one stoplight town, I just put so much pressure on myself to be the perfect wife.
It wasn't really something that I was comparing myself to other people necessarily.
I really just was doing it because that's the mom that I wanted to be because that is the mom that I wanted.
She had this white notepad, the same white notepad, and she made her entire list.
She planned out every meal that she was going to make over the next week, and she made sure every ingredient that she needed was on this list.
The second thing that my mom did routinely was she did all of the laundry on Mondays.
And so we would have to take our laundry down to the laundry room on Sunday night or else the laundry wasn't getting done.
So by the time, you know, after dinner, we had our clean laundry and it was our job to put it away Monday night.
