When a rising San Antonio rapper stops answering his phone, a welfare check at his apartment uncovers a crime scene no one saw coming. Investigators zeroed in on Martell DeRouen's estranged wife…
Officers from the San Antonio Police Department are dispatched to 34-year-old Martell Derouen's apartment on the northwest side of the city.
On arrival, an officer obtains a key to Martell's unit from the leasing office.
What's going on?
I don't know yet.
We're gonna go find out right now.
Then he and his partner head to Martell's apartment.
[machine beeping] [knocking] Is that a bullet hole? [machine beeping] That's weird.
Yeah.
The bullet hole is directly above the peephole.
To officers, it's an ominous sign.
Got the key right here.
[machine beeping] I have footsteps.
Do you? [knocking] Police.
[machine beeping] [knocking] It's like an inside lock.
Officers recruit some help.
Have your maintenance drill out the lock and-
Yeah
... and wreath the door in damage and just the lock change out.
And while they wait for assistance, they check to see if Martell's car is on-site.
To the right?
Mm-hmm.
Car's here.
Yeah.
Yeah, it should be here.
Back at Martell's apartment, the maintenance team arrives.
