We all know that growing a following online doesn't necessarily mean making the money you want to make - but WHY is that? What is it that makes some people with a relatively small audiences make way…
So If you resonate with this, maybe you've been growing your online world for a few years and maybe you've built up a fairly decent following.
And when your following starts growing, especially if it happens really quickly, it is so exciting.
But we all know growing a following doesn't always equal making the money that you wanna make.
Have you heard this? This is almost become like a business fable at this point of the influencer a few years ago who had 2.6 million followers, I think, and launched a clothing brand, but didn't actually end up making enough sales to hit the minimum order from her manufacturer, which was something like 36 design, 30, 36 of each design or something.
And obviously that is an extreme example, but it comes up a lot of the time when we talk about this topic where, you know, it doesn't matter how many people you have in that follower number.
I have worked with clients with 5K, 10K, 20K, 50K, and even over 100K followers on Instagram who aren't making anywhere near the sales that they wanna make behind the scenes.
And I think often maybe we think, oh, maybe they haven't been growing their email lists, but I also have clients who say the same thing to me and they have like over 10,000 people on their email list.
And it can feel so frustrating when you have the people there, but it doesn't feel like they want what you're offering.
maybe it feels like they only like your free advice or maybe it feels like they followed you from like a few posts going viral but they haven't actually become part of your real community maybe your posts just aren't getting shown to enough of those people so it feels like they never even see you even though they're following you and all of this kind of stuff happens on the email as well or you know all the other platforms if you have people opening your emails but never actually clicking on your links or joining your list for a freebie, but never buying from you.
all of these things will literally have you questioning everything, like whether your offers are any good, whether you're selling something that people just don't want, or whether your content is good enough.
And it can generally just leave you feeling a bit like disconnected from your audience and even from your business in general.
And if any of this resonates, I wanted to share The top reasons why your sales might not be matching your audience size.
