Sarah dropped the titles, blurbs, AND cover art for ACOTAR 6 and 7 today and Melissa is (solo, sorry our mics did not survive the emergency pod attempt) breaking down everything we just learned about…
So my initial thoughts, um, when I first saw the covers of these book, was that it was gonna be a Ragnarok situation.
Because the books are titled The Valkyrie Cycle Movements One through Three, I knew we were gonna get more, immediately knew we were get more Nesta, Gwyn, Emerie.
But that's also kinda why I went in the Ragnarok situation, because that's all Norse mythology.
And maybe it still will be, who knows? But initially, that's where my mind went seeing The Valkyrie Movement Cycles.
Also, in Sarah's Instagram post today announcing these books, the caption on her post was, "What was broken will be remade." And the definition of Ragnarok is literally, "An apocalyptic series of events and cataclysmic battles that result in the death of major deities, the destruction of the cosmos, and the subsequent rebirth of the world." I don't know about you guys, but that sounds exactly like something that was broken being remade.
So all of this is where I was initially headed.
However, like I said earlier [laughs], almost instantly I was humbled and stopped in my tracks when I read the blurb on Goodreads about this book.
And in case you haven't already seen it, I will read it for you now.
It says, "What was broken will be remade.
Though he's been bound to a mountain lake for a millennia, the insidious threat of his now return spreads across the fae territories, attracting powerful allies hell-bent on reclaiming what was once theirs, the human lands." This feels like ACOTAR all over again.
Just kidding.
"The Night Court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked, but with Prythian still piecing itself together in the wake of the devastating Hybern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult day by day.
To make matters worse, those who rule and protect the Night Court are reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths.
The rifts dividing them seem insurmountable.
But to defeat Koschei's creeping shadow, they must find a way back to each other and resurrect their former alliances.
To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them." So now I'm like, well every theory I had or what I thought was gonna happen, it feels like it's out the window.
W- like honestly, where the heck does Elain fit into this? I, I mean, again, the description doesn't say anything about whose point of view it's coming from.
It could absolutely be Elain, and this is just the general storyline that's happening.
I'm just, there's something in my gut that is telling me that's not what it is, that it's something else.
I also personally still desperately want the love triangle between Lucien, Azriel, and Elain bec- I've talked about this before.
I really, [laughs] really want, uh, Lucien's villain arc, and I think if Elain rejected his mating bond and chose Azriel, and then Azriel and Lucien duked it out, I, I...
Not killing Lucien But severely wounding him, and then he kind of turns...
That is his villain arc, his origin story, if you will.
