Potato, Beans & The Wildebeest Rodeo! 🤠 🐱 Short Stories For Kids

[page turning] [upbeat music] Oftentimes, when Potato and Beans left their diner in the middle of nowhere to go out on a trip, they liked to race.

They'd tie up their laces on their roller skates extra tight, slick down the fur on the top of their heads for some extra aerodynamic niftiness, and zoom off into the desert.

[whooshing] They'd have to keep to the tracks, of course, because to put it plainly, wheels and sand were not a brilliant combo, unless you liked ending up splat on your face with a mouthful of dust.

Today they were heading to the Middle of Nowhere Summer County Fair, about seven sand dunes away.

The koala sunshine was beating brightly in the sky.

The sand shimmered like zillions of speckles of glass.

And for once in her life, Beans was winning the race.

[whooshing] "Wee," [skates rolling] she cried.

And just behind her, she heard Potato shouting, too.

[whooshing] "Wee." [whooshing] Beans crouched down lower to the ground and paddled her paws harder, urging her skates along.

[skates rolling] The wind whipped through her fur.

She just had to stay steady.

Over another sand dune she zoomed, [whooshing] narrowly hopping out of the way of a rogue cactus spiking up in the path.

And then up ahead she could see it, the yellow and red arched banner of the Summer County Fair.

She leant even further forward, wind whistling and [whooshing] oops.

[boing] Her skate caught on an almost invisible pebble.

Poor Beans wobbled.

[bubbling] She wibbled.

She windmilled her arms.

[bubbling] And splat.

[boing] She landed flat on her face with a mouthful of dust.

She scrabbled to her feet as quickly as she could, but it was too late.

There Potato went, sailing like a furry brown boat on wheels, her green eyes twinkling.

[whooshing] Beans had to spit the sand out of her mouth and scrabble after her towards the entrance of the fair.

[spitting] "Patooie.
