And so we saw that they were devoted to different things, right? [smacks lips] And, uh, today, we're gonna sort of try and unpack that a little bit, go a little bit further with it.
Uh, and who knows that when you start in a book, it's good to start it at the beginning? Yes.
First page, yes? Yeah, 'cause otherwise you might not get the whole story.
So that's exactly what we're gonna do, uh, today.
So in Genesis, we are introduced to, at the very beginning- Adam and Eve ...
Yes.
It wasn't a trick question.
Uh, first ones around, right? They were created with a very specific purpose in mind.
Uh, they're gonna come up on the screen.
It says, "Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.' So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Now, the language that you see in those two chapters around the creation, around, uh, the, the, the, the beginnings and, and, and Adam and Eve's arrival is so important, right? Because of the purpose that God had for mankind, and that purpose was twofold: one, to be like him and be with him; two, to rule, subdue, increase, and fill.
That's what it says, right? They were put in the garden to take care of it and to work it.
That's right.
