What You'll Learn in This Episode You're running your kids ministry on fumes—short-staffed, stretched thin, and wondering where your next volunteer is coming from. This episode is for you. We dig…
Yeah.
Okay, so we all know that recruiting is kind of the number one frustration in kids ministry.
But I think one of you even alluded to this in one of the episodes is kids ministry in particular, we are looking for something more from our volunteers.
So we typically have a higher level commitment and we need people that we really trust and have vetted because we're trusting these people to teach the Bible to our kids.
So we want people that are reliable, vetted, trusted, all the things.
But that can make it so that an all call from the front is really tricky because honestly, we don't always want just anybody.
And we then have a very, very small recruiting pool because it's like, well, who do you know? And people start avoiding you in the hallways.
Yeah.
So my question is basically, what can we do? Where can we have opportunities for people? If somebody walks in the door, they've obviously passed a background check, there's no red flags, but I've never had a conversation with this person, but they are ready and they want to step in on Sunday.
Where can we have people serve that? that gives us an opportunity to get to know them and potentially develop them as leaders without just sticking them right in front of kids.
Okay.
All right.
That was a good one.
It is a good one.
And it's one that I think a lot of listeners can relate to.
So any clarifying questions you guys want to ask or feel free to dive in and what are some things that people can do to get started in a safe way when you don't really know them all that well? Yeah.
I got one clarification here.
You want to keep them close to the children's ministry, correct? You don't want to give them away to like the coffee or the welcome team.
You want to build a relationship with them, right?
Correct.
Ideally, these are people that want to serve in kids ministry.
And so we want to give them that avenue.
Yeah.
And so I have one clarifying question that may or may not help us as we navigate this.
Do you what are your current roles? If you had like buckets of current roles, do you have any roles that are like what I call fringe roles right now? Um,
Yeah.
